How to achieve good research collaboration? Guide for Global Research Partnerships.

A practical guide for global research partnerships helps scientists to collaborate more equitably and effectively across geographical and disciplinary boundaries.

The guide, published by the Swiss Alliance for Global Research Partnerships of the Swiss Academy of Sciences – including several Blue Universities in Switzerland – outlines six principles that are key to effective, equitable and impactful research collaboration: joint agenda setting, balanced power relations, specifying roles and responsibilities, mutual learning, the sharing of results and the establishment of long-term partnerships across disciplines and countries are all equally important. The guide can be applied flexibly in different contexts. It was developed in collaboration with over 200 researchers and practitioners from around the world.

Principle 1️⃣: Set the agenda together
Principle 2️⃣: Manage power dynamics
Principle 3️⃣: Specify roles and responsibilities
Principle 4️⃣: Promote mutual learning
Principle 5️⃣: Share and apply results
Principle 6️⃣: Build long-term partnerships
