I already had a regular dash mini waffle maker and got this set solely for the flower plate for an upcoming party. For the test run, we used Belgian waffle mix and added a tiny bit of oil for the first application. It does have a smell when it’s first being heated, but it quickly goes away. My daughter wanted to try the heart plate after. Doesn’t do as well filling out, but she didn’t care. Plates come out easily, the container is great, and I can’t wait to try the plain flat plates. Those are the only ones you swap with the upper plate. All others are the bottom plate. Read the instructions and be cautious of the steam.

I’m not sure if this is a condensation or when I open it. It doesn’t seem to be an issue, but I lifted it and it poured out. I clean it up; it isn’t a significant issue now that I know to be careful and clean it.

As others have said, the tap you use to lift gets kind of hot, so I don’t think I’d make more than “one batch” (four waffles worth) at a time without giving the little guy a rest. But for one or two people who want fun waffles, it’s awesome!
